Can I access my box out of working hours?
It will not be possible to access the building after working hours due to security reasons. You are welcome to come between our stipulated hours which are Monday to Friday 10:00am to 18:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 10:00am to 16:00pm.
How do I access my safe deposit box?
Every customer has electronic access to their box with a unique user code and either Biometric or a PIN number, as well as 3 high security keys, these keys are special ordered and cannot be replicated.
That means you can get immediate and secure access to your valuables without the need to be accompanied by a member of staff, which is how more traditional vaults are accessed.
Who can access my box?
Only you and registered users that you have authorised can access your box. You can register up to 4 people to be able to access one safety deposit box. Coventry Safety Deposit centre staff have no access to your box. Our Deposit boxes are permanently monitored and alarmed.
Is there any privacy in the vault?
We understand customers will want privacy to look at their items and therefore we have private viewing rooms available within the secure area.
What happens if I lose my key?
If you lose one key, we will have to replace your lock which will cost £150. If you lose all three keys, then we will have to call out a specialist engineer to open your box which will cost £400. You and a member of management will need to be present during the opening of your box.
Are my valuables insured whilst kept in my deposit box?
We provide £10,000 complimentary insurance for the first year. You can upgrade your insurance easily during the registration process or at a later date. The maximum insurance contents cover is £500,000 per box.
You do not have to tell us what is in your box when you open an account but, if there were to be a claim, you would need to provide a list. We strongly recommend that you keep a list elsewhere, along with valuation certificates, invoices and photographs of the contents of your box. We offer a valuation service which takes places at the centre so you do not have take your valuables out of the secured vault. For more information please contact the Centre.
Are valuables protected outside the site?
We are able to provide on request insurance cover that protects your valuables whilst they are not in your deposit box, this is called wear cover. We can cover up to £100,000 worth of valuables off site.
What happens if the company goes bankrupt?
The safety deposit boxes are rented individually to each customer. The contents contained within the safety deposit box will always remain the property of the customer. It would always be illegal for any party, including an insolvency practitioner, to access a customer’s box and or to sell the contents. The legal terminology is that all customers have “Tenant Rights”. So in the very unlikely event that anything should happen to Coventry Safety Deposit Centre all customers would be immediately contacted and advised of what to do next.
What happens to my safety box in the event I die?
In the event that you pass away and there is a 2nd registered user on the safety deposit box, they will then have full access to the box contents.
If there is no 2nd registered user then our Legal team will require the Grant of Probate, death certificate and proof of identification for the executor. They will also need to return the keys belonging to the safety deposit box to the centre.
We do strongly recommend that you have an up to date Will in place.
